Everyone brings their personal culture to the table, so flexibility is required. You could pick up information by simply being around coworkers. Now, the same information must be shared explicitly (either via Slack, email or Confluence). Everybody needs to know what\u2019s happening; this requires a certain dose of diligence and care.<\/p>\n<p id=\"e610\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph jw jx iz jy b jz ka kb kc kd ke kf kg kh ki kj kk kl km kn ko kp kq kr ks kt is gb\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">When there isn\u2019t enough communication, responsibility kicks in to fill the gaps. The most dangerous risk of a disjointed team is disengaged team members who do the bare minimum.<\/p>\n<p id=\"4322\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph jw jx iz jy b jz ka kb kc kd ke kf kg kh ki kj kk kl km kn ko kp kq kr ks kt is gb\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">To remedy this, we take time to form the necessary bonds and we hire people that embody our values of caring, participating, sharing and constructive feedback.<\/p>\n<p id=\"066e\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph jw jx iz jy b jz ka kb kc kd ke kf kg kh ki kj kk kl km kn ko kp kq kr ks kt is gb\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">From a managerial perspective, we doubled down on activities like:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"\">\n<li id=\"16c7\" class=\"mw mx iz jy b jz ka kd ke kh my kl mz kp na kt nb nc nd ne gb\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">1:1s to be sure everybody is happy and satisfied and to tackle issues as soon as they arise.<\/li>\n<li id=\"41c6\" class=\"mw mx iz jy b jz nf kd ng kh nh kl ni kp nj kt nb nc nd ne gb\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">Using collaboration techniques. For example, the dev team loves doing pair programming, mob programming, group code reviews, etc.<\/li>\n<li id=\"ff47\" class=\"mw mx iz jy b jz nf kd ng kh nh kl ni kp nj kt nb nc nd ne gb\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">Organizing weekly or biweekly \u201cbreaks\u201d to get together online, share trivia, have fun, and play games.<\/li>\n<li id=\"11c8\" class=\"mw mx iz jy b jz nf kd ng kh nh kl ni kp nj kt nb nc nd ne gb\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">Our yearly company-wide retreats and team retreats (we try to meet in person whenever possible)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p id=\"48ba\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph jw jx iz jy b jz ka kb kc kd ke kf kg kh ki kj kk kl km kn ko kp kq kr ks kt is gb\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">One-man armies don\u2019t bode well with our culture, and we try hard to ensure everyone feels connected to this amazing group of people who are willing to help each other, have fun and kick ass.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"cc2f\" class=\"ll lm iz bo ln lo lp lq lr ls lt lu lv lw lx ly lz ma mb mc md me mf mg mh mi gb\">Happier team = Better products<\/h2>\n<p id=\"edb3\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph jw jx iz jy b jz mj kb kc kd mk kf kg kh ml kj kk kl mm kn ko kp mn kr ks kt is gb\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">As our Content Strategist,\u00a0<a class=\"au mo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/content-strategist-jules-costa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener ugc nofollow\">Jules Costa<\/a>, likes to say, \u201cOur focus on people internally helps us to be more people-focused in our products.
